E2.6201 2Z/С3 SKF SKF energy-saving sealed deep groove ball bearings with the E2 prefix - a new product in the SKF range of energy-saving bearings. Designed for use in the automotive industry, as well as other industries with low and medium loads, the innovative sealing solution used in these bearings allows you to increase the bearing life, reduce energy consumption and negative impact on the environment.  SKF offers a range of energy-saving sealed deep groove ball bearings. They are part of the SKF product range presented as part of the BeyondZero program, that is, it has significant environmental benefits. Thanks to the new design with seals, they reduce the friction moment in bearings by 30% or more compared with similar SKF Explorer sealed radial ball bearings, and the seals protect them from lubricant leakage and contamination.Thanks to the reduced friction moment, the operating temperature of SKF energy-saving sealed radial ball bearings is 5–15 ° C lower than SKF Explorer bearings. Reducing the operating temperature provides an increase in the service life of the grease and, consequently, the bearing. SKF energy-saving sealed deep groove ball bearings are available in various sizes and bearing diameters from 6 to 25 mm.  Examples of applications for which these conditions are typical are two-wheeled vehicles, water pumps, electric motors, washing machines, power tools, weaving machines, conveyors, elevators and escalators.  Bearing life is almost always limited by grease life. Due to the fact that the heating of the SKF E2 bearing is 5–15 ° C lower than that of a similar SKF Explorer bearing, the service life of the grease and the bearing itself can be increased.Unique sealing propertiesThe SKF E2 energy-saving sealed deep groove ball bearing is equipped with a new low-friction contact seal (Fig. 4). This high performance seal is made from acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NRB) and reinforced with sheet steel. This seal has a low modulus of elasticity of butadiene acrylonitrile rubber. As a result, a thin, flexible seal minimizes friction, while effectively holding grease in the bearing and protecting it from contamination.After development, the SKF E2 energy-saving sealed deep groove ball bearings have passed a series of stringent control tests to confirm their technical characteristics under various conditions. During high-speed tests, the bearing worked for 10 hours with a rotation speed of 5000 rpm and 10 hours with a rotation speed of 8000 rpm with a radial load of 50 N to measure the friction moment, as well as register the leakage of lubricant. The dust penetration test lasted 168 hours using fine dust and included evaluating the effectiveness of the seals. After the test, the lubricant remained clean, no traces of dust were found. Dynamic and static tests in water were also conducted to confirm the ability of the seal to provide protection against water ingress. As tests have shown, the energy-saving SKF E2 sealed deep groove ball bearings can last twice as long as the SKF Explorer sealed bearings, thereby reducing the total cost of ownership.Operational BenefitsThe use of SKF E2 energy-saving sealed deep groove ball bearings provides tangible benefits. Take, for example, a loom equipped with 200 SKF E2 energy-saving bearings. With an operating time of the machine of 8000 hours per year, energy saving is up to 11 310 kW • h. This reduction in energy consumption translates into a reduction in CO2 emissions of 8.5 tons per year, taking into account an energy measurement coefficient of 0.749 kg CO2eq / kW • h to calculate the amount of CO2, or an equivalent value of 42 kg CO2eq / year for the bearing.Therefore, SKF E2 energy-saving sealed deep groove ball bearings can make a significant contribution to reducing energy consumption, carbon footprint and maintenance. Due to the difficulties associated with reducing energy consumption, the demand for energy-saving solutions is very high. Solving this problem, SKF E2 bearings can also reduce the negative impact on the environment.
